East Renfrewshire Housing Marke

Local property law expert John Carruthers predicts continued prosperity in East Renfrewshire housing marketproperty expert

The Herald today (18th December 2017) reported that the average house price in East Renfrewshire including Newton Means, Giffnock and Clarkston, was now the highest in Scotland at £261,512: a rise of 6% on last year.

“The proposed increase in the starting rate of LBTT (Stamp Duty) to £175,000 means that it will be slightly cheaper to buy a property next year.

“We believe some of the rises in house prices in East Renfrewshire is in part down to the low levels of supply of houses on the market. Demand is outstripping supply by some way which fuels price rises.”

“We have recently seen as many a seventeen offers going in for a home in the average price range in Giffnock. Sellers are also insisting that potential buyers do not make any offer to purchase conditional on the prospective purchaser selling their own house first. In some cases the highest offer will not necessarily be successful and can be trumped by a lower offer which is unconditional on the sale of the purchasers present property.

“We believe that the market will continue to be buoyant due to these positive market conditions allied to the  high quality of life in East Renfrewshire.”
